Here is the final public comment report that provides a detailed look at what you had to say in regards to the service change proposals.
Our Valley Regional Transit planners have reviewed every comment you made – the positives, the negatives, the service suggestions. They took your input into consideration as they developed a second draft version of service change proposals. We have updated our service change page to include the latest service change proposal.
This second round of gathering public comment will include specific proposals to cut service in Canyon County due to anticipated funding shortfalls for fiscal year 2019.
VRT planners reviewed the revised draft of the proposed service changes at the August 6th meeting of the Executive Board. The decision was made at the meeting to postpone two open houses/public hearings that were tentatively scheduled for late August to allow for further review of the proposed changes. Those open houses/public hearings are now scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25th at the Main Street Station and Wednesday, Sept. 26th at the Happy Day Transit Center in Caldwell. The open houses will be held from 4-6 p.m.; the public hearings will begin at 6 p.m.
The comment period for the proposed changes will end on Saturday, Oct. 6th. Our planners will then review the comments and develop a final proposal for service changes. This final proposal will be presented to the VRT Board in October for approval. Any approved changes will be implemented in January 2019.
We want to assure you that we will continue to listen to what you have to say about the proposals. Our ultimate goal in implementing any changes to the system is to maximize existing resources and provide riders the opportunity to get to more places more often.
