Who’s a Good Boy?

Valley Regional Transit is always happy to host the folks from the local Go Team Therapy Dogs organization to the Orchard maintenance facility. On a recent Saturday, a group of trainers got their canine friends acquainted with public transportation. The dogs learned how to get on and off the bus, and how to sit with their people while the bus is moving. Then they posed for pictures.

Go Team pairs handler-dog team to offer relief, caring, and assistance to those in need all over the country. The volunteers serve a wide variety of settings, including assisted living homes, libraries, schools, airports, and hospitals. To learn more about Go Team visit https://goteamdogs.org/

Happy Day Transit Center Partners with WICAP

The WICAP Community Collaborative was looking for a new location for its food distribution efforts. Kari Palmer, the Director of Community Services at WICAP, approached Valley Regional Transit to ask if her organization could use the parking lot in front of the Happy Day Transit Center in Caldwell. VRT readily agreed. The food boxes are handed out to anyone in need.

It used to take WICAP up to three hours to distribute the food boxes at the old location. Now that its trucks are parked at Happy Day, WICAP distributed the food boxes in half the time!

WICAP will continue to use the Happy Day parking lot, distributing food boxes the first two Fridays of every month. To learn more about the WICAP Community Collaborative visit https://www.wicap.org/
