New fixed-route bus service in Meridian and additional east-west service via Cherry Lane/Fairview Avenue highlight service changes that went into effect on Monday, October 3.
The new Meridian service, Route 30 Pine, travels between Ten Mile Crossing to The Village/Kleiner Park via Pine Street. The service operates weekdays between 6:20 a.m. and 10:20 a.m., and 3 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. There is no charge to ride the 30 Pine bus during the month of October. VRT also offers additional service opportunities in Meridian – explore those here.
East loop detour
Due to road closures on Hickory Avenue, the 30 Pine will take East State Avenue to North Webb Way to get back to Pine Avenue. The bus stop on the northwest corner of Hickory & Pine will be closed, and a temporary stop will be placed on the northwest corner of State & Hickory. The closure is anticipated to last until mid-October.
West loop detour
Due to road closures on Wayfinder Avenue, the 30 Pine will continue west on Franklin Road to Ten Mile Road and east on Vanguard Way to serve a temporary stop west of the roundabout. The bus stops at Wayfinder & Peek Cloud Lane and Wayfinder & Vanguard will be closed. The closure is anticipated to last until the end of November.
The addition of the 30 Pine will result in the first-time availability of ADA complementary paratransit service in Meridian. This curb-to-curb service is provided to persons with disabilities who cannot use the fixed-route service because of a disability. The paratransit service area will be ¾-mile on either side of 30 Pine (and at the ends of the route), and the hours of operation will be the same as the 30 Pine.
Also, the 45 Boise State/CWI via Fairview (formerly 45 Boise State/CWI Express) now reroutes from its current pathway on Interstate 84 to Cherry Lane/Fairview when traveling between Boise State and the College of Western Idaho. This pathway provides more service in growing areas, increases transit access (536 percent increased access for residents and 118 percent increased access to jobs), and repurposes low-performing services.
