VRT On-Demand to encourage fixed-route bus use

Starting Monday, March 31, VRT On-Demand riders may see new features in the VRT Booking app.

To encourage efficient service and help make VRT On-Demand more available around Canyon County, trips that can be completed with a fixed-route bus instead of VRT On-Demand will be shifted to that route.

Initially, this will only impact passengers taking trips along Caldwell Boulevard. If a trip can be managed by Route 42 during the desired travel time and is within a short walk to the stop, the VRT Booking app and VRT’s Customer Service desk will direct riders to use the 42 instead.

Passengers using the VRT Booking app with these trips may see the following message when scheduling a trip:

There’s a seat for you on Route 42! Check below for more information.

All other trips will see the VRT On-Demand option as usual. Riders can contact VRT’s Customer Service desk with questions.
